Painting directly connected with the subconscious, with our deeper and sometimes darker side, is not an easy task. My way is to sit in front of a canvas and, inspired by the imprimatura dark and light spots, let the composition come out by itself. I call this creative process "Deep Painting". This way it's obviously impossible to use any preliminary sketches, photos, models, etc. All my works are realized with Old Masters' techniques, mostly using only four colours as Apelle did, thousands of years ago.

Born with a pencil in the hand. When I was a child I didn't have a good feeling with food. One day my mother discovered that the only way to make me eat without problems was to put some sheets of paper and some pencils in my little hands. Since then, my passion and love for drawing and painting has constantly built up. In the last years my own artistic research is focused on two directions: with my "Deep Painting" I'm investigating the universe of wild emotions, ancient fears, icons and myths hidden in the deepest side of our souls; with my "Minimalist Figurative" I'm working around our visual perceptive mechanisms of the reality, walking on the subtle border between realism and pure abstraction. Nowadays I live and work between Basel and Naples and yes, I still feel myself happier when I draw while I'm eating.
