“Passing The Vitamins” (2021) explores the toxic bond between society and nature by embedding an urban landscape inside a fruit — a subtle plague consuming it from within. Part of the series “The Order of Disorder,” painted in acrylic on canvas with surrealist and symbolist undertones.

Carlos Joao (PAO) is a Cuban artist who has lived in the United States since 2014. His current focus is on collaborating with galleries to develop projects that can reach a broader audience, centered on the distinctive artistic style of his work. He graduated in 2004 from the “San Alejandro” Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, Cuba, and pursued further studies at the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA), specializing in stage design from 2006 to 2009. Throughout his career, he has participated in local and international projects, including the London Biennale in 2021 and various events in South Florida, among others. His series "The Order of Disorder" explores landscapes intertwined with everyday objects, each bearing symbolic significance related to their daily use and natural or manufactured origins. Through this symbolic dialogue, he reconstructs a hedonistic reality filled with references to our collective presence in a dreamlike environment—one that reflects contemporary sociopolitical, psychological, and ethical conflicts, as well as our complex relationship with nature.
