A Shimmering Tapestry of Time "Patina Dreams" is an abstract canvas that invites contemplation of both the ancient and the ethereal. Its color palette of deep blues and shimmering golds over texture evokes the aged beauty of precious metals, suggesting a sense of timelessness and tradition. The piece's border, a dark blue overlayed with gold, creates a frame that is both elegant and rustic. This aged metal aesthetic is echoed in the lower third of the canvas, which is entirely dark blue with the same iridescent shimmer. This section seems to evoke the depths of an ocean at dawn, or perhaps the twilight sky as day gives way to night. The top portion of the canvas, bathed in a soft light blue, adds a touch of serenity and lightness to the overall composition. This contrast between darkness and light creates a dynamic tension that draws the viewer's eye. As the viewer moves, the iridescent qualities of the gold and blue hues dance and shimmer, suggesting a hidden depth and a sense of mystery. "Patina Dreams" is a captivating piece that invites the viewer to explore their own interpretations and connections to the past and the present. Indee Moss (b. 1981) is a fine artist working in both abstract and representational styles. She was born in Sri Lanka and raised in Sri Lanka and the U.K. Home for her is the U.S. where she has lived for over half her life. She currently resides in Ames, IA. Indee has always loved art as a child, whether it be drawing and painting or visits to museums. Even though her path initially led her towards the sciences, she always enjoyed drawing zoological and botanical illustrations in high school for her science classes. Indee received her formal education in the fields of chemistry and accounting: she pursued a BA from SUNY Potsdam in Chemistry and Mathematics, a Master's and PhD from the University of Rochester in Chemistry, and a Master's in Accounting from Iowa State University. Even while working in very left-brain oriented careers Indee always enjoyed drawing, painting, and photography. After nearly 18 years of been part of academia and the corporate world, Indee is now following her calling and is a dedicated full-time artist. Indee's art skills are honed from hours at the easel as well as from workshops at the Penn Studio School of Art, Grand Central Atelier, and Art Students League of New York. She has studied with Ananda Fetherston, Eric March, Kate Jenvey, Nikki Carr, and Nicki Heenan. PRESS Artists Magazine, November/December 2024 issue: 2024 Third Annual "Artists to Watch" Competition.
