About The Artwork

I love painting animals and their stories. This is the story of imagination and the spark of passion that it can bring to our everyday lives. The viewer is invited to put on the opera glasses and look past their logical, calculating minds, to experience the archetype of Imagination. This whimsical creature brings along a world of unlimited possibilities and offers a spark of inspiration for those who will fly it back home on the wind. For many people, psychological well-being means having a healthy relationship with their muse and being able to create freely from inspiration; passion gleaned from inspiration manifests as The Arts, giving anyone the power to be a creator of something amazing. For others, simply viewing and experiencing The Arts provides a substantial source of inspiration that is then transmuted into their outlook on life, giving meaning, beauty, and happiness to diverse situations. This painting had the honor of being exhibited at Northern Illinois University's Art Museum for a juried group exhibition centered on well-being in 2021. It will be available in person at The Other Art Fair (by Saatchi Art) in Chicago, April 21-24th

I've been an artist in Kankakee County Illinois (not far from Chicago), for the past 12 years where I live with my son, husband, and an assortment of animal friends. I enjoy acrylic painting and have exhibited work in numerous festivals and galleries throughout the region. I have a penchant for painting en plein air and for drawing miniatures sized under 1 inch, but I'm best known for my animal portraits in acrylic and for encouraging other artists in my community to follow their passion. I organize and endorse an annual juried art exhibit for regional high school students that's been running for over 10 years. I'm also a writer; my first book is a sci-fi novel in verse that was published in 2019, and in 2021 I won 3rd place in a playwriting competition. These passion projects fuel my creative muses and keep me returning to my painting easel with vigor and joy. I love making art and know that my best work is always in front of me.
