VIEW IN MY ROOM
In my current practice, I use images of immense machines such as Large Hadron Collide particle detectors at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland and reduce the various forms to simple geometric shapes to create patterns and rhythms reminiscent of the ceilings and stained glass windows of cathedrals of the past, and the mandalas and meditation wheels of the Eastern religious tradition – all of which were intended to represent the metaphysical cosmos. Now the sense of awe and wonder may no longer be evoked by our layering of a religious, mythological narrative over the world but instead by what we are now discovering about the very nature of our reality through the global effort of scientific enquiry.
