Designing his portraits as landscapes, and vice versa, she takes photographs collected over the years for starting points of a spooky naturalism dominated by a feeling of strangeness. Painted with oil, vinyl paint, and more recently pastel, her paintings proceed by superimposing layers, while densifying the material, however, give the impression of a certain evanescence, a lightness that promote loosening of perceptual structures. Born in 1972 in Liège, Belgium, Marie-Jeanne Caprasse lives and works in Paris.
