About The Artwork

The bliss of sitting alone, feet up, reading a book, with no time constraint and in the most picturesque place possible is something that one would yearn for. In our everyday life of stress and tension, getting some time for oneself is always a blessing. I remember creating a similar kind of artwork, with the same theme in mind. That time I was living in India and my hubby had gone to U.S.A. on a business trip for 2 months. he used to always send back picture of the place he was residing at. One day he sent me a picture of the view from his kitchen window. There was a tiny creek and some ducks wading in the shallow waters among the lush greenery. This gave me the inspiration to create - Peaceful Easy Feeling. I wanted to show a person enjoying the peace and quiet of his cabin in the woods, that had a small waterfall just outside the window. He was all by himself, away from all the hustle bustle of the city, noisy traffic, people and just the overall commotion of a city. Reading his book, he seems to have dozed off due to the peace and quiet around him. Creating the artwork - Peaceful Easy Feeling, brought the emotion of being in sync with my soul, I felt as if I had gone into a world of my own, a trance, a kind of meditative stage, where it is just me, my God and the divine emotion of love, happiness, harmony and tranquility. I would love my viewers to experience the same kind of emotion, when they view this artwork. I had a friend come over the other day who said - "This is how I want to spend my retired life."

The inclination towards painting and art was a natural transition. Being the daughter of an Architect who was an extraordinary artist himself meant that Ritina was exposed to drawings, precision, structure and expression of art from a very young age. Though, she did engage in painting during her academic years, it was more of a hobby and pass time activity whenever she needed to empty her mind and relax, which just faded away unknowingly as if pushed to the back burner. During her formative years, she engaged in a great deal of painting techniques, like fabric painting, art on pottery, and wooden surfaces, all just a source of enjoyment. It wasn’t till very recent times that she really started pursuing this passion seriously. Her works of art have been sold and gifted to a lot of her friends and family. The recent years have been an interesting journey, where she looks back and see’s the transformation of an amateur to a more professional level as an artist. However, the more interesting part has been her enjoying every single moment of this journey. The more she learns, the more she realizes, how much she does not know about the infinite spectrum of art! Living in the peaceful town of Tennessee, USA, has been a blessing, as it has let Ritina explore and express her creativity through every new piece of art she creates. Losing track of time when engrossed in art is so very true for this artist, who toils for perfection, by giving each piece of artwork her true heart and soul. So rightly said in her own words – “Each piece of my artwork is like a piece of me being reflected through it. They are me in the form of a painting.” Guess it is true that when passion becomes profession, you never work again! A self-taught artist, with no training in the field of art and painting, she has reached her present level of skill through practice and watching other artists at work on the internet. She enjoys using various surfaces, mediums and textures for painting and is always keen to try out something new. Doing commissioned artwork is a challenge which gives her an opportunity to stretch her limits even further. Recently, she ventured into portrait painting too, which is a whole new arena by itself. Basically, her preferred medium has always been acrylics, due to its speedy drying time. Sometimes the use of oils, where blending and creating textures, has always been simpler, also indulges her.
