Dumitru Bostan, Born in the village of Şipote, Bacău County, Romania. Graduate the Polytechnic Institute, Faculty of Industrial Chemistry, Iaşi. Between 1958 and 1962 he studied painting with the painter Pantelimon Vedenivschi, former rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev, professor at the Painting Circle of the Student House of Culture in Iași. In the following years he studied painting with Ștefan Hotnog, professor at the Academy of Arts in Iași and later studied sculpture and modeling with the sculptor Pompiliu Clement, in Piatra Neamt. He publishes humorous drawings in "Viața Studențească", "Flacăra Iaşului", "Ceahlăul", "Scânteia Tineretului" and other magazines and newspapers. Wins the second prize at the drawing competition of "Student Life" magazine (1961). At the suggestion of the student at that time Marin Sorescu and under the guidance of painter Val Gheorghiu, he makes several personal caricatures exhibitions at the Palace of Culture in Iași (1960-1962). Participate in numerous group exhibitions (painting): 1963-1986 in Piatra Neamț, Iași and Bucharest and in a collective exhibition of sculpture at the Bucharest Art Museum (1974). Participate in group exhibitions at "Cupola" Galleries Iași (1985), Bucharest Municipal Galleries (1986), "Nicolae Tonitza" Galleries in Bârlad (2004) and "Lascăr Vorel" and "Top Art," in Piatra Neamt (1982-2016). Personal Expositions at "Lost Art Gallery" New York (1988, 1993, 2001) and "Lascăr Vorel Gallery", Piatra Neamţ (2010, 2012). Present in collections in Romania, France, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, Cuba, USA, England, Israel, Italy, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Republic of Moldova and in the collection of the Havana-Cuba Art Museum. Present in "Who's Who in Romania", "Pegasus Press" Publishing House, Bucharest 2002 and in "A century of fine arts in Moldova" by Valentin Ciucă, "ART XXI" Publishing House, Iaşi 2009. He publishes the volume "The Painting for Amateurs", "Cetatea Doamnei" Publishing House, Piatra Neamt 2008.
