This painting was inspired by old portrait studios—spaces that once served as both stage and memory archive. I’ve always been intrigued by the stiffness of early photography, the ceremonial nature of it, and the way even children had to perform stillness for the camera. In Photo Atelier, two identi...

About the Artist

Georgi Harutunyan

Armenia

George is an artist whose creative journey has spanned over 30 years. A participant in more than 20 exhibitions and a member of the Union of Artists of Germany, his works can be found in private collections, galleries, and museums across Germany, France, Switzerland, Canada, Cyprus, Russia, Armenia, and beyond.
But George is more than just an artist - he is a philosopher, and even more than that, an artist, a philosopher, and a fabulist. He creates magical paintings imbued with deep meaning and emotion, unfolding like books. The longer you look at them, the more layers reveal themselves. And when you return to them, much like revisiting a beloved book, you discover something new something that had previously gone unnoticed.
His paintings are not just to be seen but to be felt. They are filled with emotion, and at times, it almost seems as though they understand you sharing in your joy or offering silent empathy.
George was reluctant to give titles to his works, believing that a title imposes a preconceived interpretation and disrupts the purity of the personal connection between the viewer and the painting.
It is fascinating how often his canvases evoke associations with beloved poems, melodies, or songs, seamlessly intertwining meaning, imagery, and emotion. I am fortunate to own several of his paintings. For over a decade, they have been by my side, becoming a part of my life and my family. Each one has its own character, mood, and story.
Cyrille, a friend of George
