ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Large abstract painting: Picket This is one of a series of paintings that were a deliberate attempt to portray a more optimistic, brighter and forward looking collection. Although I always have a thought, a concept or an idea when I start to paint I am never adverse to that changing depending on the mood, the color composition, the atmosphere or even the music playing in the studio that day! All influences can be utilized and it is not always relevant where the initial spark or thought came from. This particular piece was influenced by a glance out the car window of a commune in countryside with white picket fences. Painted for the show: 'Objects, Points & Lines - Last 10 Years', in La Réole, Ancien hôtel de ville. This piece and the paintings that accompanied it used bright colors and extravagant gestural marks that broke free from the darker 'expressions' that had been prevalent in the previous few years works. Acrylic paint, acrylic pens, ink, household paint, spray paint, pencil. Canvas on wood frame. Signed on front. Signed and dated on verso. Signed Certificate of Authenticity supplied. Exclusive leaflet pack included.

IAN PALMER paintings / collages / sculptures. A multi-disciplined artist and designer working out of South West France. An abstract gestural artist with a personal vision, often inspired by nature, he works into the canvas, with a knife, a brush, a sponge or any tool to describe or suggest. A thought or a message which is intended to be a free interpretation for everyone, a journey to the heart of the very essence of ambiguity, where everyone meets the powerful energy of the artist to finally appropriate the entire translation. This painter favors movement in the creation of his canvas, which allows the gaze that escapes into a dreamlike atmosphere, a free space, a land conducive to the wanderings of the mind. Ian Palmer offers you a space of freedom, to walk around without direction and indulge in simple contemplation, a space to let your emotions come.
