About The Artwork

Don't try to tell me that my intentions are untrue My eyes like butterflies you caught 'em and they're open wide Clouded and hazy future clear whenever I'm with you Just think of all the things we could do to pass the time It's a walk in the park, it goes Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na Cuz everybody's got a little pieces of someone they hide It's okay, it's the way we distract until the day that we die And though our future's gone uncertain, it's gonna be alright 'Cause though I'm leaving longing leaves me ever by your side And all our time together is tearing me apart I can't hold you tomorrow but I hold you in my heart And all our time together is tearing me apart I can't hold out forever, but I hold you in my heart Don't try to tell me that my intentions are untrue Don't even bother tryin' to tell me 'cause you live a lie 'Cause a moment or a minute I can see it through And have a precious little second of you by my side, it goes Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na Na na na, na na na, na na na na na na And our future's lookin bright In all the little pieces of the people that we keep inside 'Cause you can do-make-say-think-laugh-sink-drink all night All the little visions all the little moments that we keep inside And all our time together is tearing me apart I can't hold you tomorrow but I hold you in my heart And all our time together is tearing me apart I can't hold out forever, but I hold you in my heart ‘Pieces of the People We Love’ by The Rapture Songwriters: Gabriel Andruzzi / Luke Jenner / Matthew Brian Safer / Vito Joshua Roccoforte Pieces of the People We Love is the second studio album by American rockband the Rapture. It was released on September 12, 2006 in the United States through Universal Motown Records and in the United Kingdom through Vertigo Records. It was primarily produced by Paul Epworth and Ewan Pearson, with Danger Mouse producing two tracks. This album saw bassist Mattie Safer taking a more prominent role in songwriting and also singing lead vocals on several songs, with multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Andruzzi also being involved in the band's songwriting for the first time. As a result, creative tensions arose between them and the band's co-founders, vocalist-guitarist Luke Jenner and drummer Vito Roccoforte. In 2011 Jenner said, "[Safer] also had ambitions himself, to be a songwriter, but that really came out strongly on Pieces of the People We Love. He wanted to write songs and so he started taking up a lot more space and Gabe joined the band. It became this power struggle between Mattie and Gabe and me and Vito and, um, Vito doesn't like conflict so it left me kind of versus Mattie and Gabe so I lost that one.” Source: Wikipedia

I’m (I am?) a self-taught artist, originally from the north suburbs of Chicago (also known as John Hughes' America). Born in 1984, I started painting in 2017 and began to take it somewhat seriously in 2019. I currently reside in rural Montana and live a secluded life with my three dogs - Pebbles (a.k.a. Jaws, Brandy, Fang), Bam Bam (a.k.a. Scrat, Dinki-Di, Trash Panda, Dug), and Mystique (a.k.a. Lady), and five cats - Burglekutt (a.k.a. Ghostmouse Makah), Vohnkar! (a.k.a. Storm Shadow, Grogu), Falkor (a.k.a. Moro, The Mummy's Kryptonite, Wendigo, BFC), Nibbler (a.k.a. Cobblepot), and Meegosh (a.k.a. Lenny). Part of the preface to the 'Complete Works of Emily Dickinson helps sum me up as a person and an artist: "The verses of Emily Dickinson belong emphatically to what Emerson long since called ‘the Poetry of the Portfolio,’ something produced absolutely without the thought of publication, and solely by way of expression of the writer's own mind. Such verse must inevitably forfeit whatever advantage lies in the discipline of public criticism and the enforced conformity to accepted ways. On the other hand, it may often gain something through the habit of freedom and unconventional utterance of daring thoughts. In the case of the present author, there was no choice in the matter; she must write thus, or not at all. A recluse by temperament and habit, literally spending years without settling her foot beyond the doorstep, and many more years during which her walks were strictly limited to her father's grounds, she habitually concealed her mind, like her person, from all but a few friends; and it was with great difficulty that she was persuaded to print during her lifetime, three or four poems. Yet she wrote verses in great abundance; and though brought curiosity indifferent to all conventional rules, had yet a rigorous literary standard of her own, and often altered a word many times to suit an ear which had its own tenacious fastidiousness." -Thomas Wentworth Higginson "Not bad... you say this is your first lesson?" "Yes, but my father was an *art collector*, so…"
