About The Artwork

Finnish title: Piilossa English title: Hidden Canvas board, matte varnish, no frame. I can't explain this one outright, but I thought of how Snow White's mother pricked her finger and the blood fell on white cloth and she thought that was how beautiful her daughter should be. So I incorporated that thought of a red drop on white linen being so enchanting into this. The third hand was an addition I considered for some time and only added it after painting the other hands but I think it makes this image so much more compelling. It's an unwanted outside influence that makes you uneasy, at least for me. When you really think about it, are you sure any of the hands belong to her anymore? There is kind of a face under that veil. I painted some of it just to be covered up... But you won't find any eye contact because she is completely closed off from you in the end.

FYI, I also have smaller pieces for sale on Etsy. Link on my website. :) I was born in 1992 in the heart of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. I was an art line student in upper secondary school (in Lyseonpuiston lukio) and continued on to study graphic design in University of Lapland, where I got my bachelor's and master's degrees with a major in graphic design and minoring in art history. I am now trying out a new path with psychology education while I paint, draw and customize dolls in my free time. I suppose a lot of my art could be considered "vent art". I like to put my difficult and strong emotions into my art and use it to deal with difficult questions I'm grappling with. I also like to use art as another vessel for my interests in alternative fashion and whatever else I may find myself obsessed with. My favorite mediums to work with are colored pencils and acrylic paints.
