About The Artwork

The silence of the moment and the invisible story behind closed eyes: every viewer finds a space for their own thoughts and emotions in this work. On PJ Harvey's album "The Hope Six Demolition Project", on which she captures impressions from trips to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington D.C., there is a line in the song "Chain of keys" that I couldn't get out of my head for a long time: "Imagine what her eyes have seen". The portrait of PJ Harvey is inspired by this very line. With closed eyes, folded arms and slightly blown long hair, the almost full-length portrait of PJ Harvey is depicted facing the viewer. Rather muted colors - purple and grey - match the introverted mood. Signed on the reverse. Hand-painted canvas edge, frame not required.

Quiet immersion in our own thoughts, a moment of deceleration in an increasingly fast-paced world - with my paintings I want to invite the viewers of my paintings to pause for a while and see that often the power lies in the silence and in the concentration on the little things in life. The gaze of my depicted figures is mostly turned away from the viewer. They are completely absorbed in themselves, are not distracted by anything - hence the monochrome background - can thus dive into another world where stillness is enjoyed. The delicate ribbons, soap bubbles, butterflies that surround my figures are thereby symbols of the preciousness of these moments. My paintings are built up in many thin layers of acrylic paint. This creates an intense colorfulness and a linear painting style. The figures on my canvases are about life-size. The viewer can identify directly with the figure and enter the scene.
