About The Artwork

I am a semi abstract seascape painter Nigel Waters whose work is concerned with pollution, climate change and the changing geology caused by coastal erosion of the Jurassic Coast in East Devon. This seascape depicts a sea and beach overrun with plastic pollution that could become a reality in 100 years if we don't change our habits by recycling as much as possible. We all have a responsibility to protect the planet for the sake of future generations to be able to enjoy it. My style is semi abstract expressionist always with a vivid use of colour and the scene loosely depicts a futuristic view of Jacobs Ladder Beach and Cliffs at Sidmouth. Feature published in Evolver Magazine 114 Exhibit A Page 3 Nov Dec 2019 Edition.

I draw inspiration from coastal walking where I undertake research I draw and paint en plein air. My work is semi-abstract expressionist landscape and seascape painting drawing inspiration from coastal landscape, St Ives and the modernist artists. Many works are researched and inspiration drawn from walking the south west coast path in sections in Devon and Cornwall. My work is also concerned with pollution, climate change and the changing geology caused by coastal erosion of the Jurassic Coast in East Devon. My work Plastic Beach in 100 Years for sale on the Saatchi Website depicts a sea and beach overrun with plastic pollution that could become a reality in 100 years if we don't change our habits by recycling as much as possible. I am an advocate for the East Devon beach cleaning schemes and make sculpture from organic items washed up onto the beach recycled into sculpture as a tool to raise awareness. We all have a responsibility to protect the planet for the sake of future generations to be able to enjoy it. I always use vivid colours in my artwork for the enjoyment of the viewer.
