I am a British abstract expressionist artist.  My work is a colourful exploration of abstraction viewed through the lens of Abstract Expressionism and Fauvism. Drawing inspiration from spontaneous and intuitive mark making, each colour and mark made responds to the last and figurative images often emerge as the painting evolves. I immerse myself in the painted environment, responding directly to each mark and colour laid down on the canvas. Colour theory guides my choices, but intuition leads my hand: each mark is a spontaneous reaction to the moment, shaped by intuition and music I may be listening to in my studio. My process is rooted in expressive, gestural mark making, allowing the painting to evolve organically as I layer bold hues and dynamic forms. Influenced by the emotional immediacy of Abstract Expressionism and the vivid palettes of Fauvism, I use color and texture to evoke the vitality and unpredictability of mark making. My goal is to create work that invites viewers to feel the raw energy of image creation and to experience the wonder of abstraction in a state of constant flux. Ultimately, my paintings are a celebration of movement, color, and the transformative power of the image making — each one a unique response to abstractions endless capacity for change.
