Play Space No. 31 Painting

This is an oil painting on Belgian linen. My newest series, Play Space, explores the concept of birds at play. Birds float across the surface, lightweight and aloft, interacting with shapes that appear to be paper scraps in these spacious, minimal works. Growing up around birds, I observed their playfulness up close. Scientists have studied how various species of birds love to play with bits of string or paper scraps. Anthropomorphism is a great tool for helping us connect to nature and learn more about it. These paintings inspire us to look more closely at nature and find parallels within our own lives. Choosing simplicity helps us relate to our environment in a more balanced way. Uplifting, calm, and modern, my paintings are well-suited to a range of interiors from traditional, transitional, to mid-century inspired. Ships wired and ready to hang.
