ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Damien Hirst once tried to sue a child over a collage. I hope he doesn't try to sue me. Part of my ongoing Anti-Art Series. Mimicking the likes of Picasso, Banksy and Andy Warhol to name a few, Kasia creates Anti-Art art that stems from a place of scepticism and apathy towards the artists we celebrate. Kasia questions their worth, why they are celebrated, challenging the viewer to be a bit more critical in what they enjoy and question why they enjoy it is at all. Cheekily, Kasia creates a version that is a “real fake” of a famed artist only to “destroy” them with street style tags using funny quips or aggressive language - giving the piece a sharp punk edge, that is delightful in its’ sting.

Kasia Frankowicz is a Melbourne-based artist whose bold and evocative works explore themes of identity and personal truth. Born in Western Sydney to refugee parents, her creative voice reflects a unique perspective shaped by displacement and cultural intersections. Her vibrant style merges the boldness of street art—drawn from her brother's graffiti influences—with contemporary pop aesthetics, resulting in compelling works. Kasia’s artistic journey is highlighted by notable collaborations and media features. She partnered with 35mm Co to hand-paint cameras for World Pride, celebrating diversity and individuality through art. She also collaborated with UNSW’s Physics Department, designing painted lab coats to merge creativity with science. Her work has been featured in Art/Edit, Frankie Magazine, Voyage LA, WB40 Magazine,, The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, and Sydney Morning Herald, and has appeared on an episode of ABC’s Artworks. As the founder of REBIRTH, Kasia has created a platform for artistic expression and community engagement, emphasizing collaboration and inclusivity. Her work communicates a powerful message of authenticity, as seen in pieces like Lust, which captures universal human emotions, and her vibrant tributes to street culture and individuality. Kasia’s creative practice is deeply connected to her advocacy for marginalized voices, LGBTQI+ youth, and animal rights. Self-described as a “35-year-old teenager at heart,” Kasia embodies the spirit of rebellion, creativity, and individuality, using her art to connect with audiences and celebrate the beauty of being unapologetically true to oneself.
