Now living in Venice, California. // Artists Statement // My love of travel and nature has led my creative passions to explore, photograph, draw and paint landscapes all over the world. My desire to capture expansive, particularly mountainous views, has been a foundation of my paintings for over a decade. "Travel is often the catalyst for new bodies of work for Caillet-Bois. Her atmospheric landscapes where light and space collide in colorful lyrical expression, explore the integrity of line alongside pattern and texture. Her recent collection spans 6 years from extensive travels across Europe, The Middle East, Asia and the US… inspired by the varied contours of the Earth: flat stark, never-ending deserts in Israel; contrast towering volcanoes in Bali; rocky jagged peaks and soaring oceans in the South of Thailand to the grassy rolling hills of the French Alps in Summer... The eye travels inquisitively over ambiguous and implied shapes; of patch work fields of crops; winds licking through lollypop trees; clouds descending into valley's of spotted & triangular forests... Creating a wonderful somewhat mystical land. The gentle abstract way in which Caillet-Bois works, allows the viewer the freedom to put their own experience into the painting. The landscapes are presented through a mixture of both expressive and controlled marks, an impressionist representation of the moment once shared between the artist's senses and the open space before her."
