ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I started this copy of Portrait of a Lady or "Bildnis einer Frau" by Lucas Cranach the Younger to prepare for a portrait commission. The patron had asked me to paint his daughter in a Renaissance style like the painting Boy With Apple from the film Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson. In order to practice, I started this copy and it ended up being a long, sometimes tedious exercise. Even my crude attempt was a lot of work. I'm very impressed with the effort and talent of Lucas Cranach the Younger who painted without electric lights or heat back in 1564.
