About The Artwork
This is a portrait of a man in profile, following a drawing of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo's sketches are my favorite because of their gentleness and melancholy and meditative feelings they evoke. The painting is painted on a fragment of a porcelain plate. At the back is a hook for hanging. The painting is suitable for a bedroom or other small and intimate space. The plate is slightly protruding from the wall, it is not completely flat and the surface of the work is not smooth as illustrated in the additional photographs

Ayelet Zer Sheinboim ceramic artist . In my work I use fractions of vases (shards) which I paint and print on them images that I take from my old family albums, landscape photographs and drawings of admired artists. I deal with issues of memory and belonging to different groups (like family, womanhood…). Working on small scale, holding the broken piece in my hand and painting or printing on it make me feel very intimate with my work and I hope that this feeling will pass to the viewer.
