Precious Scars was inspired from the Japanese art of repairing broken things "Kintsugi". The paper used is 250 gsm, medium used is acrylic and metallic paints. The painting is shipped in a tube without hanging hardware. Breakage and repair are part of the history of an object rather than something to disguise. The kintsugi approach makes the most of what already is, highlights the beauty of what we do have, flaws and all, rather than leaving us eternally grasping for more, different, other, better. Each of us should look for a way to cope with traumatic events in a positive way, learn from negative experiences, take the best from them and convince ourselves that after all cracks are what give us character.
