About The Artwork
The West Coast of South Africa has these little churches in the most unlikely places and they are all historical old buildings. I often wonder about the people that worship in these churches and so decided to paint a few of them. Being historical I decided to do them in monotones and just focus on the Poppies that symbolizes remembrance of all casualties of war including civilian casualties, and non-British casualties, to stand for peace, and not to glamorize war.

I started to sketch at the age of 17 years only. I so wanted a poster of the singer Marc Bolan, however, could not afford to buy one. Having a small magazine picture, I decided to try and draw him and used wax crayons to complete the poster. This turned out to be such a success that I started making them and selling them to my girlfriends and all who wanted art. This was the birth of my love of art.
