Acrylic on wood There is a certain paradox between the notion of landscape - a subjective perception of a space - and the use made of it. The landscape is not raw data; it is not only the space or the territory, but also what it refers to in each of us. Very often when we speak of landscape, we think of a postcard, a beautiful and well-framed image, very on the surface. In my practice I try to un-paint the postcard. For my research, I take a lot of photos on my hikes. Then I let them rest. And I use the mark they leave in my memory. They are no longer a direct medium for my painting, but a reminiscence. I create images to better confront them with my personal experience.
