Dolores was born from the chance meeting of my brush and the canvas, during a period of doubt like often, many artists know , a doubt due to the transition from realism to the abstract, more than ten years ago. By chance, Dolores took this particular form which is reminiscent of Las Meninas from Velasquez. Since my move to Occitanie (south of France , close to Spain) two years ago, I have felt the real vibration that emanates from this character created ten years earlier. Dolores is the Occitan woman with her singing accent, but who can also snap like a whip. Dolores, it is Occitania that takes Spain in its arms and holds her so tight that she can feel her heart beating to the rhythm of flamenco, Dolores is the Spain of Picasso's genius, of Dali's extravagant madness, of the violence of Goya's Pinturas Negras, of the princely flamboyance of Velasquez and his Meninas, of the passion of Almodovar, and finally of useless fight of Don Quixote by Cervantes, Dolores is the solitude of the bull and the toreador in the center of the arena crushed by sun, in summer, in the deafening silence of ten thousand aficionados, Dolores is also the Mexican fascination with death, and the slow artistic agony of Frida Kahlo. This is why I am more and more passionate about Dolores. My journey with her will still be long, filled with happiness, doubt, pain and love.

Christian Bernard was born in 1950 in the South of France into a humble family and very far from the art world. Since the age of five he was attracted to image and drawing. Entirely self-taught and not being able to visit museums or galleries, he was very soon reading art magazines and trying to understand the works of artists such as Picasso, Magritte, Juan Gris, Chardin, Dali, Kandinsky and others. It is in this diversity and eclecticism that his love for art developed. It was not until the age of seventeen that he attended his first exhibition: "Picasso retrospective" in Avignon, France. This encounter with Picasso through original works was a shock to him and the beginning of a life entirely devoted to art. During the following 40 years his work continued to evolve and change, and his artistic path was spread with different styles, moods, feelings, frustrations and brainstorming, but always passionately focused on image. At each period of his artistic life he always had the same passion and fervor in using material, colors, lights and shapes. After 25 years at the head of an graphic design agency and never losing touch with visual arts, he decided to devote himself entirely to his love for artistic creation. In 1998 he moved to Miami with his wife , and continued to follow his path of art and creation. in 2021 he moved back to South of France and share is time between Miami in USA and Beziers in France From that time his work has been shown in several galleries and followed by many faithful collectors in the United States and Europe.
