Elise Meredith Beattie was born and educated in New York City. Beattie is a nationally recognized award winning artist & instructor. She is also a well known advocate of arts education and creative thought. Elise's art is influenced by her imagination, but in her work she likes to step beyond the reality of what is seen preferring to paint her feelings. The artist call this process: painting with her mind’s eye. Beattie's goal is to allow her emotions to mix with inspiration and create a fusion of representation and abstraction. Using numerous layers of poured watercolor and acrylics she creates cloaks of mystery; continuously redirecting her interpretation of reality. Eventually Beattie's feelings, pours and the patterns created, transform her imagination to become a painting inspired by passion’s gift. Beattie exhibits regularly at many national and international art shows. The artist's numerous accomplishments include being the recipient of a Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Foundation Grant for a solo exhibit called (Short Stories from the road less traveled ...)in New York City. The artist's work has been honored with numerous awards. Elise is a signature member of the National Association of Women Artists,International Society of Acrylic Painters, The Northwest and Florida Watercolor Societies as well as many other state & regional art organizations. Elise's paintings have won inclusion into several books including "Splash 13 Alternate Approaches" & "Incite Best of Mixed Media- Dreams Realized" both by F& W Media. The artist is also listed in "Who's Who in American Art". Elise Beattie is frequently invited to jury exhibits and teaches.
