“REST”|”Rural life” Series Painting

I am a Ukrainian painter working in a personal artistic direction that can be described as pastoral neo-impressionism. My practice is a conscious movement away from visual excess and conceptual noise toward light, human presence, and the enduring connection between people and the land. My artistic language has grown from two sources. One is French Impressionism, particularly artists like Camille Pissarro, who revealed the quiet power of everyday rural life. The other is the lived reality of the Ukrainian countryside — villages, fields, animals, and labor as a natural part of existence. I do not romanticize rural life, but seek to preserve its truth through color and light. Rather than following classical neo-impressionist pointillism, I use a freer, more expressive brushstroke. This allows me to create dynamic surfaces where light becomes an active element, shaping form, atmosphere, and emotion. Through my work, I explore rural life not as a subject of nostalgia, but as a living space of humanity and continuity. My paintings offer the viewer a pause — a quiet encounter with light, nature, and the dignity of simple existence.
