About The Artwork

I have made portraits of Ramnamis in mixed medium. The Ramnami sect is virtually a sect descended from the Satnami sect of Chhattisgarh (India) and cultivated by Kabirpanthi influence. Born in 1858, Guru Ghasidas founded the Satnam Panth here. Guru Ghasidas denied the caste disparities and the dominance of Brahmins in the society and opposed the caste system divided into varnas. He believed that every person in a society has socially equal status. He forbade idolatry. I have tried to make the people of these extinct spiritual ideologies aware of the people of today's modern world. These people have lived with the same ideology and lifestyle for hundreds of years. But even today his faith and sense of reverence and dedication towards Ram is alive. Where once they were counted in thousands, now only a few are left. Even after suffering from the cast system created by the society, who kept their faith intact, we must think about them once. At that time, the country's economic system was in the hands of others. At that time it was very difficult to manage life and food, despite this, they kept their struggle very well and showed their reverence to the people of the world and a mirror to that hateful and exploitative society. I have tried to represent Ramnamis in my artworks in such a way as that of a famous person. Just like on the first page of a magazine there is a picture of a famous actor or other people, in the same way I have represented them. All artworks are made on paper in mixed medium. I have used acrylic, pencil and glass marker in my paintings. I have tried to represent Ramnamis in my artworks in such a way as that of a famous person. Now I am working in garhi studio in delhi. I work on urbanization. With this in my work I utilize scrap materials like- old newz papers, CDs, electronic wastes, etc by sticking them . I use grafitti also as an element in my work. In our daily life, we use all these items. And when they get old or out of use, we chuck them out. However, they remain connected with us and our lives in one way, or onother. I try to portray this relationship of our present and their past, like that of a rememberd past. I break up the script, or rather, pseudoscript, and write there. Every script has been created by humans, after they had started making use of speech, to record or communicate in a written way. Thus, nemorous scripts hadcome up. This happened after they had first communicated by means of signs or pictures sctached on walls, rocks and caves. As we see now in many prehistoric art in caves all over the world. And when children drow lines or pictures on walls, there is great freedom and spontaneity to it. And even we feel this upon seeing them. They have no fear or deliberation while creating there ‘works’. Everything is a free flow. And in my work, I try to reflect this not as a copy of children in front of me, but becouse I too was a child. And memories linger somewhere in the psyche, seeking expression at any time. Morever we, in our contamporary life, go through various problems and issues like- political turmoils, caste and class struggles, terrorism, wars, drugs, religious clashes and so on. We all want to be free of such despairs and tensions. Then why not preserve the innosence and simplicity the goodness of children. Even when we have grown up? This I want to reflect through my creations.
