ABOUT THE ARTWORK
- Most painters in this part of the world spend some time in northern New Mexico; visit the San Francisco de Assisi Mission Church at Rancho de Taos; and feel compelled to do a painting: usually of the back side – the first view you get as you approach from the road. I’ve had this nagging compulsion for many years, and finally have given in. The pinwheel form taken by the four connected panels works well with the angled massive shapes of the mission. The frame/divider pieces between the panels are made from rough sawn cedar planks.

My focus involves vibrant colors in compositions that consider natural, built, and abstract elements in a portion of their physical and social/cultural context. I fabricate the panels from recycled building materials. I was born and raised on the plains of eastern Colorado, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Colorado State University in 1975. Since returning full-time to artwork in 2010 after a 30+ year career as an urban design consultant, my paintings have been included in many juried exhibits and have received a number of awards as outlined below.
