"In the life of everyone there is a limited number of experiences which are not written upon the memory, but stamped there with a die; and in the long years after, they can be called up in detail, and every emotion that was stirred by them can be lived through anew; these are the tragedies of life."...

About the Artist

Brooke Palmer

Canada

I was born January 9, 1961 in Toronto,Canada where I continue to live and work.
I am the very proud father of 6 beautiful children. I have spent 25 years as a professional photographer in the motion picture industry and have photographed hundreds of actors and celebrities. My keen sense for the use of lighting and it's power to influence a person's mood and emotion inform my painting style. My painting studio is on Niagara Street in the vibrant and always inspiring Queen Street West district of Toronto.

I describe my paintings as vibrant, high energy and emotionally uplifting. I do not use brushes, palette knives or any traditional artist tools in the creation of my work. The focus is on employing bold colour palettes and layering colours to create transparent and emotive mystical veils of light which often appear to illuminate the painting from within. The end results are visually arresting, dream-like paintings the ebb and flow and are in a constant state of motion. My artwork is abstract in nature and people often comment on the mystical transparency and intensity of the colours. Due to the nature of my process colours collide and blend before me on the canvas to create hues unimaginable or expected. The joy I feel witnessing these "happy accidents" is euphoric and provides endless and eternal inspiration.

I paint to convey my eternal optimism and hope I have for all of humanity in our often complicated world. It is my hope that the viewer is transported, if only for a moment, to a world where the difficulties we all face in life recede to the background allowing the heart and soul to soar skyward transcending the limitations we and society inherently place upon us.
