ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This painting is a formal abstraction- in other words, nonrepresentational components interacting with one another to create form. These components are sourced from a wide range of painterly languages both high and low; from classical painting to sign painting. By deploying these dissimilar elements into the same picture, the studio process becomes the process of negotiating the intersection of art and design. The painting is comprised of thin, shaped panels that are painted with various types of paint and reconstructed into this puzzle-like assemblage- the seams between the elements create a linear abstract structure that unfies all of the different elements like the parts of a tapestry. Painting will be professionally crated and shipped at no additional cost to the buyer.
