About The Artwork
The Spaghettio hoops are part of my “memory language” repeated in many of my paintings. A piece of my mom, they represent a favorite pattern on one of her dresses she wore throughout my childhood. Cream-colored hoop shapes cascaded down her silk dress, and I used to call it her “Spaghettio dress.” She passed away just 6 months ago. I use the hoops as a way of communicating with her, a vibration of sorts, like radar. It helps me feel closer to her. It makes me feel like I’m home. She was my home.
