In m experience..I am a self-taught artist' because so many use it in the wrong context. I have studied art though out my life, Techniques and skill and even a point of view are often handed down, formally or not. It's easier to get started if you're taught, of course. But art ...!! If an individual has the desire to become an artist, that person will some how acquire the know-how of learning the skills.
