ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This was one of three pieces I made for a show at Over the Influence, Los Angeles. The staggered black bars created a sort of racing flag motif which was a surprise but one that I embraced, having already done another piece based on our Los Angeles car culture for the same show. It reminds me of the LA Riverbed racetrack in Grease and of our cruising and street racing history.

Kelly Brumfield-Woods' involvement in the art world began in Venice in the mid-1980’s, when, after a Venice Art Walk, she sent cards to the participating artists, offering her services as a studio assistant. By the time she was accepted to Otis, she had a full-time studio assistant business up and running, working closely with some of the top Venice artists and she made a decision to continue working rather than return to academia. Kelly’s work has recently been included in Shimmer, at Jamie Brooks Fine Art in Costa Mesa. Kelly lives and works in Los Angeles.
