Glass painting. Tempered, 6 mm extra clear, edged polished glass
Painted with Ferro's fine ceramic powder paints (use for glass). Kiln firing.
Brass fitting

Coming from a world of painting, it took me several years to get out of a harsh fixation regarding how to "frame" my glass paintings. I guess the colors, the glazes .. The shapes drew all my intention.. The glass was merely a beautiful platform to paint on ..
An unconscious desire started rushing in, wishing to see them as round, circular paintings. I immediately felt the presence of an object. Seeking and searching for the right material to come along and join this duet, the brass appeared. Just like complementary colors - which strengthens each other's qualities, the brass and the glass somehow allows the magic of each other's material - to come alive.
These handmade brass holders were given lots of thought and intention throughout the way. Two special images just kept leading me...a recollection of a medallion..And the sun kisses the sea during sunset.

I feel I came to a point in this journey, there is finally a home for my paintings and a holding surrounding for the shapes.. The glazes... And the emotional movement

I intentionally located the upper part of the plate leaning against the wall, whereas the lower part is merely distended from it. That kind of setting up keeps the floating sensation of the image and allows you to play with lights and reveal wonderful shades.
Please note that only warm light reveals shades of phenomenas accruing inside the glass during firing. I've attached additional images for example.

Most important- the whiteness of the wall plays a special role in the artwork, leading beams of light inside and back to eye. I hardly recommend leaning the artwork against a bright background.

My artwork is eventually all about searching. The longing to achieve the sublime has been leading me throughout my life. I cherish those priceless moments of searching even though, most likely, the sublime can never really be achieved. Sometimes, I feel, the search is a goal by itself.
