About The Artwork
Bhutan is called the land of happiness, where development is measured by the happiness index. Everywhere, you meet soft spoken people, and see monks and nuns of all ages in monasteries that are galore in different parts of the country and in major towns. Bhutan revers its ancestors, rulers, and deities. Bhutanese have several beliefs and traditions of worshipping the the revered ones, like many world cultures. After my trip to Bhutan I did several Bhutan paintings in Indian Contemporary Art form. In this painting one sees the tiny stupas (tsa tsas) made of clay placed on the slopes of hills as we drive past the mountain highways from one town to another. The number of tsa tsas indicates the age of the ancestor who passed away. A senior monk explains to a young monk the importance of tsa tsas. Other monks are also walking towards the tsa tsas to worship ancestors.

In 2019, Goldman Sachs India acquired 11 of my works for their newly built corporate office in India. Among possessors of around 100 works of mine are senior corporate executives from Disney, Deutsche Bank, Boston Consulting Group, Bank Of Tokyo etc.; academicians, diplomates, and art collectors. I primarily do Watercolors. These are story/philosophy based, involving strong imaginary compositions, and a bit of surrealism. The inspiration comes from literature, nature study, and worldwide travels. The paintings are soft, serene, and vibrant. The admirers describe these as "Happy Paintings".
