About The Artwork
This painting is called Requited Love. This romantic artwork depicts an intimate moment of two women dancing and losing themselves in the moment. High black and white contrast captures the intensity of an intimate moment and reflects the dramatic dance style of tango. When I look at this painting I can hear nostalgic music in the background and I feel a strong connection between the dancers. The idea for this artwork was very much inspired by Sappho's poetry. In fact I ripped my favorite poems out of Sappho's book of poetry and attached them to the background of this painting. Some excerpts are in Greek, and some are English translations. This painting was painted with acrylic paints. The sides of the canvas are painted and it's ready to hang. I always use 1.5" thick gallery wrapped cotton canvas for its durability and its 3D effect.

Born in Ukraine in 1981, Anna developed her unique brand of art through her schooling at the Academy of Arts in Odessa, Ukraine and the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, Canada. Via San Diego, Florence, and Vancouver, Anna eventually made her way to Austin, where she now lives and paints. Anna Ganina has drawn inspiration for her works of art from broad travels and her abundant life experiences as both a visitor and resident of many countries around the world. Through her paintings Anna goes beyond the obvious to uncover the symbolism within the human aspect of daily life. Her creativity and style come alive through her choices of imagery and materials. As a viewer of Anna’s images, one is transported to a world of fictional reality that exists in the recesses of the artist’s mind. Through her artwork, Anna challenges the observer to not only understand the scope of the actual image, but also submit to the feelings that the image provokes.
