ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Before the pandemic, I photographed an organic farm in Wiltshire that was working on bringing back wildlife with its planting methods, in particular Corn Buntings which are endangered in the UK. The farm is one of the few places where the birds are increasing. Years later, when I painted this, without thinking about the subject I realised that it reminded me of those days photographing the Corn Buntings. This painting, like many of mine project beauty on our Earth and hope that we can turn the tide of environmental damage we are doing. I chose oil and painted this with my hands. This painting is framed in a deep natural wooden frame (photographed).

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I drift along the edge of abstraction and I often find myself diving into the deep realms of abstract expressionism, intuitively exploring the landscape of the natural world, of body, and of mind. I use gestural marks, colour, and texture to describe, the connection I have with a place or an experience and its energy and the impact it has on me. I use acrylics and mixed media, building layers using a variety of tools such as rags, spatulas, bits of plastic, and card as well as brushes. Then I scrape back into the paint to reveal a rich, textured, and sophisticated story. There may be as many as 10 layers of work, some hidden or with only a speck being revealed. I increasingly find myself painting what I feel, not what I see. A painting will reveal itself to me and after leaving it to settle for a few days I can read stories in the painting, which relate to recent experiences. I work from my studio in The Silk Mill in Somerset, England.
