Contact us.Dimitar Hinkov, PhD 1972. He lives and works in Germany. He is a contemporary artist with over 50 solo and 70 group exhibitions worldwide. Besides painting, Dimitar Hinkov has a doctorate degree in Art and some studies in the field of art.
Dimitar Hinkov is a third generation artist. As a child, he spent most of his time in artists studios and galleries. It was inevitable to be fascinated by the world of art. He did his first art attempts in his grandfather’s atelier when he was 4 years old. Art literally has been his life and world.
In the last 25 years Dimitar has been focused on experiments with various materials (acrylic, oil, pigment, resin, structure) on different bases (canvas and metal). His technique is inspired by the ancient Encaustic technique. He applies many layers which one of them with unique atmosphere, emotion and life. The whole painting looks like an object in which you can see what has happened before. The audience can explore the painting in depth and to create their own way of narrative.
Dimitar Hinkov explores the boundaries of the face of both classical figuration and modern abstraction. The faces in his works are near to realism though some of them are slightly deconstructed. The hint of face triggers recognition. The atmosphere resembles a dream or limbo-like state, with elements of surrealism.
