About The Artwork

"What Rossetti does with nature painting is to use an ancient genre - stretching back to the mural painting in the luxuriant garden of the House of the Golden Bracelet in Pompeii - to narrate current needs. Anthropological drives, such as the very modern, post-pandemic need to reconnect with the cosmos in order to give value to silence, help her to find in solitude the mystical dimension of meaning. That's why Rossetti speaks of her work as ‘shelters’, as places of welcome, each with a strong individuality: spaces where a human being can reconnect with himself/ herself and, at the same time, with the universe. Searching for balance within form is the result of meditation, of an esoteric path, of reflection. Cézanne did this during his long walks through the fields of Provence before returning to his studio and breaking down the landscape into the regular grid of geometry. Rossetti chooses strongly the medium of painting, but embraces the same inspiration. She incorporates into her monumental canvases the breath of the universe, the pulse of the earth. Her visions glow beneath the surface of dormant moods, wild secrets. The intensity and extension, the space- time dimension typical of the act of painting, thus enter permanently into her existential baggage. Equally, the vibrant lymph of the physical dimension that sees her adhere with her body to the canvas stretched on the ground and give in to the ways of painting and to that famous "will of color" goes from a state of complicity to an exhausting, feverish dispute: lit by blows, shivers, pauses, lunges. Stimulating the turgor of the matter, Rossetti raises the stakes at the exact moment in which the horizon envelops her until she loses her path, her reference points in space. That familiar bush at the corner of the rose garden has changed color and size. It is transfigured. It is elsewhere. The aesthetics of the labyrinth prevail over the safety of the garden. The pond is a lagoon of the heart. The rushes, another border to cross. A repertoire of citations, ranging from De Staël to Novelli to Twombly, guide her cautious steps where orientation is lost. Color is a compass. Color leaves clues. The drafting becomes thin, without thickness, cracks or splits; it denies the corporeal substance of the image and affirms an opalescent effect, an epiphany, an apparition, where the relationships between space and form are resolved, at this point, in the light." I was born in the countryside near Piacenza, where I still live and work in a studio from a converted old barn. Cows out to pasture, wheat fields and century-old trees are the scenario that has seen me grow and which I still feel an important part of myself. Love and respect for flowers and animals, for what is boundlessy large and extremely small, the importance of water and of the land, the solitude of nature, poetry and the encounter with the absolute are the themes that I have endeavoured to investigate, together with the exploration and documentation of deserted places. I like to fly in the face of the bounds of artistic research and give life to a setting where the spectator is involved. This I try to achieve by means of different artistic techniques that range from painting to collage, to sculpture with recycled materials, video projects and installations. At present my works are the result of a free contamination of different artistic languages. I have always been fascinated by the Eastern world, by both the shady and the sunny side of the wood; I have embraced its philosophy as my lifestyle and I am keenly interested in the present social change that is leading the two worlds to get closer. I am a visionary person by nature and I like to transform and distort the meaning of things to inspire reflection
