Artist bio Artist Khandi   Born and raised in the Caribbean country of Trinidad and Tobago, the beautiful island which has permanently infused her soul, mind heart and body with its mystical magic. "My roots would always be there".  "From the early age of 8, i started expressing myself through art. As a teen, i began working on wall murals and pillow art, as well as making tote bags and other crafts as souvenirs for tourists and local shops in my neighborhood. As I grew, life took me in different paths in the next 12 years, but I always remained connected to the arts in one way or another. At the age of 19 i moved to the US and started doing odd jobs and small businesses on my own. Living in the US made me rediscover my passion and potential in the art industry, in an odd combination of nostalgia and new emotions." Living in Miami, the host of Art Basel and one of the top cities in the art world, Khandi rekindled her connection with the arts in 2016 and has since been very passionate about creating unique mixed media pop art, influenced mainly by Boscoe Holder a top Trinidadian artist, recognized for painting people of color and culture. She began creating pieces that people can easily connect with. Self thought, she is incredibly innovative and uses a combinations of painting, enhanced with embelishments, objects, sculpture and assemblage. She works with mixed media such as Oils, Acrilics, Spray paints, Glitter, Swarovski crystals, precious metals, precious stones, gold leafing and glow in the dark dyes, making her pieces truly one of a kind. Peaked by her daughters imagination, innocence and curiosity for the world, her work expresses a whimsical as well as a realistic side. Her daughter Izabella was even her very first muse. She believes that her daughters presence in her work, brings good energy and can  be appreciated by all ages. She creates series of one of a kind pieces that identify with life. Her main focus are topics like prosperity harmony and love.
