Showed at the The Other Art Fair
Artist featured in a collection
This artwork will be on display/available at The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles 22-25 September. Like the majority of my work, the painting was intuitive and a result of things I was feeling and listening to at the time of it’s making. The feeling I got after reading a Howard Zinn quote was top of mind when creating this — it is: "To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however small a way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory." While painting this, it was Summer in England, and beautiful wild flowers were abundant. ‘Ever more visible’ seemed fitting for this piece and was inspired by Anne Rice.

I'm an American artist currently living and working in the North East of England. I’m interested in the consciousness and practice of automatism; how we perceive our reality, how we imagine and experience information and how it translates to self. I take inspiration from things that make their way into my life. Whether it be from a podcast, music, film, news, or conversations—translating how they affect my understanding of self-context and mood in an automatic way. I’m constantly learning and seeking understanding and connection. My work is a reflection of my daily experience and it’s how I’m able best able to communicate my state of mind.
