About The Artwork

Conero is a small mountain sinking in the Adriatic coast near Ancona. This was taken on a stormy day in winter, when the waves makes you feel the power of nature, and you continue staring at them one after the other, stolen again in the Mediterranean athmosphere

...If you want the name, don’t buy my paintings. They are only worth, if they give you the emotion of a place…. Enrico Di Maria, is an Italian painter, born in Modena in 1960 and now leaving and working in United Arab Emirates. He has traveled most of his life, leaving and working in Africa, Italy, Far East and Middle East, coming to know cultures and traditions. However, his roots are in the Mediterranean, which he loves and gets inspiration from. He is a self-taught painter, painting large size watercolors and acrylics also large size. Sunny villages, sea-views, busy people on the roads, in the cafe, are the subjects of his paintings. The stile is impressionist with a sense of abstract, figures and shapes are suggested in the attempt to transmit the feeling of peace and calm of the Mediterranean views. As his family is coming from the Adriatic coast, there are numerous views of places around Pesaro Urbino, where the green of the countryside meets the blue of Mediterranean, the land of Raffaello, …”Marche bellezza infinita!”… (Marche, endless beauty!) All the Mediterranean is however a pot of similar cultures and traditions moving without a solution of continuity from Italy to Spain, Greece, Turkey and North Africa, and its people food, atmospheres, colours, shadows and lights are in Enrico’s paintings. Every time he paints he feels a sense of belonging and a desire for being there.
