Rudra, is Lord of the Tempest, of Thunder, and lightning and floods and destruction. He is the angry form of Shiva, who when he opens his third eye destroys everything in it's path. The painting represents Rudra dancing on a wave, in the eye of the storm, his third eye open in anger. Lightning emanates from his hand and his face is aglow with fire. His Robes represent the mighty rivers that flow from him (the Ganges, Narmada, Bramhaputra, Mekong) into the vast blue oceans. When his anger abates, and the flood waters recedes, regeneration will start anew. Destruction is essential for regeneration and creation to occur.

I am an Ophthalmologist, working in the NHS for the past 25 years. I have always been drawn to the ancient arts and architecture that resonate emotions and a joyous expression of imagination. I seek to explore the principles of Arth (meaning), Kama (desire), Dharma (virtue) and Moksha (liberation) through my art. For me art has a connection with the mysteries of the ancient world, a bridge between the old and new. My art is an amalgam of ancient culture, folkloric themes and tribal traditions, the use of natural materials, colours and dyes interwoven with myths and legends to create an illusion of the ethereal and immortal. I try to capture the strong forms of the masculine and feminine, the Physical and metaphysical, the Prakriti and purush. Bold strokes interlaced with intricate details, building texture and emphasis and a free flow of thought to create order and harmony on a blank canvas. It is an expression of my emotions and individuality and a path to an internal journey ,we all need to make at some stage in life.
