As age is catching up, I feel that I have not achieved so many things. There are so many places that I want to go, so many things to do & learn... and I want to experience it all. In a blink of an eye, my children have grown up, and I dread the day that they will eventually leave the nest. I am pushing myself to do so much in one go and finding it frustrating at times. My biggest fear is the time monster, and occasionally, I feel like running around like a chicken without its head, trying to avoid capture. In this piece, it seems like the demon is almost catching up with the frantic victim. How many people can relate to this?

Alvin Koay is a self-taught artist and is best known for his intuitive painting and bold colors. Resonating with the abstract expressionism movement of post world war II, he is influenced by the early works of Willem de Kooning, Basquiat, Picasso, and other great painters of that era. All of his works are based on impulses, spontaneity, and improvisation. He constantly finds "accidental aesthetics" as he attacks the canvas with vigorous colors, lines, and textures. He paints his state of mind and emotions, with motives from mother nature, animals, and the worldly good. Alvin uses primarily acrylic on canvas as his preferred medium.
