ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Linville River, in the Appalachian mountains of western North Carolina, flows through a deep gorge and over a waterfall. On a hike in the area I was rewarded with some fabulous views, like this. There were also some scary moments, making my way along slick wet rocks with a long, steep drop alongside. The views are inspiring for painting, but I find the hiking intimidating.
