This painting is about the binary nature of our digital lives - billions of people 'saving' and 'deleting' each other every day. I'm curious about why behaviour is so intensified online and why people become such extreme versions of themselves - from trolling on Twitter to virtue signalling on LinkedIn to filtering on Instagram to bravado on TikTok. The shapes here are an abstract ME and can be hung SAVE or DELETE side up depending on your attitude.

Shirin Majid (b.1974) is a British-Kashmiri visual artist and creative director of South London based studio Everything You See Here. Through her paintings, collages, sculptures, and digital works, she distills complex thoughts, situations and memories into meditative experiences that spark the social imagination, or just a moment of reverie. She has studied art and design at the New School in New York and the Art Academy in London, and is currently a postgraduate student in the MA Fine Art: Digital programme at Central Saint Martins.
