Sacred Mountain Over the Lavendar Fields is one of a number of paintings from my Lost Landscapes series. A woodland burial site on the South Downs coastal region of Sussex is the starting point of this painting. A place of beauty and rest and the imagined world beyond. Homage to a departed friend.

Masked Sphinx (Melissa Budasz) studied fine art painting at Camberwell and Norwich Art Schools (1997) and lives and works in Kent. She has curated and exhibited in several large-scale projects, events, and exhibitions including Personal Structures organised by the European Cultural Centre (EEC) at Palazzo Bembo, Venice, Italy (2024), the Uniqlo Tate Lates, Tate Modern (2018), a solo exhibition at Conway Hall, London (2017), and in group shows that include the Gerald Moore Gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery, Guys Hospital and the Stephen Lawrence Centre. She ran South London Women Artists (2013-2016) and during this time she was the founder and editor of ArtVerve, a journal on women’s art (2014-2017).
