After moving to California in 2020, the beaches became a refuge to Covid. Covering my hands and feet in sand became therapeutic. I wanted to capture the texture, vibrancy and hope of this feeling. This painting has texture.

Anastasia Cardona is a California-based artist whose work is influenced by the natural world. Both the surrounding external landscape and the internal realm of emotions act as catalysts. She expresses herself through the use of color, form and brush strokes.
A Chicago native, in 2020 Anastasia felt the pull of the California sun and embarked on a cross country move. Moving from the Chicago area where flatness reigns, Anastasia was immediately inspired by the rocks, cliffs, sands and mountains of the California landscape. She lets the region influence her brushstrokes, shapes and intentions.
Anastasia was a National Board Certified Art teacher who taught high school students for 10 years. In September of 2024 she launched her career as a full time fine artist.
