About The Artwork
Mixed Media on paper Signed on the front. This mixed media artwork is 28 x 36 cm with additional borders. It is currently not framed. It has been fixed and varnished, ready for framing. This portrait was heavily inspired by John Singer Sargent’s portrait of Mrs. Charles E. Inches (Louise Pomeroy) (1887). I wanted to create a portrait in the similar style but instead of using oil paints, I created this piece using bold markings of charcoal and pastels. The background was made up of thin layers of acrylics. Please see the close up images above to see the details.

I started my art journey just over 20 years ago, starting in portrait drawings in charcoal and graphite. I have a graphic design and photography background. I have exhibited my photography works a number of times but I have only discovered my love for landscape paintings in the recent years. I love painting expressive landscapes with acrylic, oils and pastels. My main influence is the impressionists, including Claude Monet, Renoir, Camille Pissarro and Arthur Streeton. My goal is to capture the beauty of nature that people often take for granted. I never lack inspiration when there’s beauty all around us and above us.
