About The Artwork

Starting in 2017, I opened a small art studio called Libelle Creative Studio. The idea behind it was to provide a safe space for self expression through Process Art. This was a space for not just kids, but for women as well. Everyone was welcome in the studio- I just happen to have more women than men coming to events. Saturday mornings were Process Art classes for primary school children. We would paint, draw, and make crazy craft projects for the season. One practice I always asked was that we do not waste paint! After every class, for each year, we had a canvas only for the extra paint from our projects. This canvas represents each student, as well as my own marks, together on one canvas. This has layers upon layers of acrylic and gouache, with variations of marks and swirls. I seriously love this painting. So many full happy hearts are created within the canvas. As the pandemic hit, my small little studio needed to become an online entity. Memories are made by such small creative activities.

Art is my life therapy. Everyone has a story. Everyone has life experiences; this changes our lives for the best or the not-so-good. I believe that all negative experiences are just lessons we need to pay attention to. It’s how we react to those negative experiences is whether we learned from it, or repeat it for the lesson later. I have put my good - and not so good - experiences into my paintings. I wanted to document the beauty I find throughout my life. Many references are from photos I have taken along my journey, our family’s world travels, or just emotions etched on the canvas. I try to live by my life’s motto: Make your life a work of Art. Reflective, childhood-like, innocent, folklore, complex with depth – just some of the expressions that best illustrate her artistic style.
