ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Circular Abstract Artwork with Movement & Colour Sausage Dog Wheelie Story: A lazy Sunday afternoon was never complete until Frank, the daredevil sausage dog, had come a cropper while perfecting the ultimate wheelie. Elevate your space with "Sausage Dog Wheelie," a round abstract painting that blends elements of 20th century art movements. This unique piece, made of three bevelled plywood shapes forming a circle, is mounted on lightweight ply to stand out from the wall and cast intriguing shadows. Inspired by the bold colors and dynamic forms of Abstract Expressionism, "Sausage Dog Wheelie" evokes the energetic brushstrokes and emotional intensity of artists like Willem de Kooning. The vibrant magenta and green tones, with touches of yellow and white, create a swirling vortex of movement and color. The geometric precision and clean lines nod to Constructivism and Bauhaus, merging form and function. The circular shape and interplay of light and shadow pay homage to Suprematism, echoing Kazimir Malevich's exploration of geometric forms. The artwork's modern presentation, with its bevelled plywood segments, adds a contemporary twist that aligns with Minimalism's simplicity and materiality. How I Come Up with My Titles I approach my paintings much like a set design. Each piece is a stage, meticulously constructed to invite viewers into a unique narrative landscape. The vibrant colors, dynamic forms, and playful compositions are all elements that set the stage for an adventure, a story waiting to be discovered and engaged with by the audience.

Painting from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand Kirsty loves to unleash colour, shape, line, and form to create refreshing, expressive abstract artworks, transporting the viewer to another place, to other memories. Having spent much of her life travelling and living around the world, Kirsty is driven by a sense of curiosity and adventure. This stimulation and a love of art, in particular abstraction, forms the basis of her work, conveying a sense of escapade and joyful escapism. Weaving memories with storylines and explosions of colour, Kirsty’s abstract art is like visual poetry. Instead of words and sentences, she intuitively creates a visual dance of the spirit. Her artwork has been featured in popular high-end magazines including, Home & Interiors - Scotland, Square Space - Singapore, AD Pro, Mexico and Maison et Jardin, France. A finalist in several notable Art Awards, including, Walker & Hall Art Award, 2022 to 2024, The Parkin Drawing Prize 2020 and the Molly Morpeth Canaday Award 2017, Kirsty’s work is exhibited widely, she also has a piece with The James Wallace Arts Trust.
